Let x=time it takes, in hours, to produce 27 spice racks.
If it takes the craftsman 3/4 hr to produce 12 spice racks, then he can produce one spice rack in (3/4)*(1/12) hr or 3/48 hr. so he works at the rate of 3/48 hour per spice rack or 48/3 spice rack per hour
Sooo our equation to solve is:
(48/3)*x=27 or
48x=81
x=1.6875 hours
Check
If he produces 1 spice rack in 3/48 hr, then he produces 27 spice racks in (3/48)*27 hour or 81/48 hr
