You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The SAT has a mean of 450 and a standard deviation of 70.
z(550) = (550-450)/70 = 100/70 = 1.4286
----------
The ACT has a mean of 19 and a standard deviation of 5.
a(22) = (22-19)/5 = 2/5 = 0.4
--------------------------------------
Suppose that you score 550 on the SAT and 22 on the ACT. on which test did you have a better score.
-----
Ans: The SAT score was 1.4 standard deviations above the mean.
The ACT score was only 0.4 standard deviations above the mean.
----
SAT score was better.
