Question 529905: Hello,
,y question is below. simple but i am confused about one aspect:
If a single card is drawn from a standard 52-card deck, what is the probability that it is either a seven or a spade?
I understand there are 4 sevens in a deck and 13 spades. Together totaling to 16/52 simplified to 4/13. I am confused if I should be counting the 7 of spades twice considering it is both a seven and a spade which would make the answer 17/52.
thank you for your help, i know it's simple but i hope to receive an answer soon.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If a single card is drawn from a standard 52-card deck, what is the probability that it is either a seven or a spade?
-------
P(7 or spade) = P(7) + P(spade) - P(7 and spade)
= 4/52 + 13/52 - 1/52 = 16/52 = 4/13
