Question 1108771: A Cape Town courier service promises that 80%of Johannesburg-bound parcel deliveries will reach their destinations within 12 hours. What is the probability that of the seven parcels sent at random times by a particular client in Cape Town, only one is delivered late?
Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! For only one, the probability is 7C1*(0.8)^6*(0.2)^1, The 7C1 are the 7 ways the one parcel may arrive late
That is 7*.8^6*.2=0.3670.
This makes intuitive sense because the expected value is np=1.4, near the 1, so this will be a fairly high probability.
