(8x-5)/(3x-1) + (4x+1)/(3x-1)
Denominators are the same so we can add the two numerators to get:
[8x-5+4x+1]/[3x-1]
=[12x-4]/[3x-1]
=[4(3x-1)]/[3x-1]
=4

(x+5)/(x-3) - (x)/(3-x)
=(x+5)/(x-3) + x/(x-3)
=[2x+5]/[x-3]
