Question 596435: Help me please I am stuck.
Question: Essay; show all work. Find the product:
(1/4x^2 – 2/5)(-1/5x – 2/3)
I have gotten this far on it and I am not even sure it is right:
(1/4x^2 - 2/5)(-1/5x - 2/3)
(1/4)x^2 * (-1/5)x - (1/4)x^2 (2/3) - (2/5) (-1/5)x + (2/5) (2/3)
(-1/20)x^3 - (2/12)x^2 - (2/25)x + (4/15)

Please help.
Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You made one silly error and I'm going to highlight it in red.

(-1/20)x^3 - (2/12)x^2 -(2/25)x + (4/15)

It's very small, but hopefully you can see that the negative in front of 2/25 is highlighted in red. This should be a + because -2/5 and -1/5x are both negative (that multiply out to a positive result), so the real answer is

(-1/20)x^3 - (2/12)x^2 + (2/25)x + 4/15

(1/4x^2 – 2/5)(-1/5x – 2/3)
I have gotten this far on it and I am not even sure it is right:
(1/4x^2 - 2/5)(-1/5x - 2/3)
(1/4)x^2 * (-1/5)x - (1/4)x^2 (2/3) - (2/5) (-1/5)x + (2/5) (2/3)
(-1/20)x^3 - (2/12)x^2 - (2/25)x + (4/15)
---------------
You have one sign wrong, and 2/12 = 1/6
The rest is correct
-------
(-1/20)x^3 - (1/6)x^2 + (2/25)x + (4/15)
------------
Or
-x^3/20 - x^2/6 + 2x/25 + 4/15
