Question 480240: Okay so I am a little stuck with two problems. It's been a while since I've done math and I forgot how to do problems like these:
A. Find the solutions of the equation: x^3- 8x +1 = 0
B. Find the solutions to the equation: 4x^4 -3 =2x +1
Thanks :)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Okay so I am a little stuck with two problems. It's been a while since I've done math and I forgot how to do problems like these:
A. Find the solutions of the equation: x^3- 8x +1 = 0
B. Find the solutions to the equation: 4x^4 -3 =2x +1

For someone who has not done math for a while, you sure picked some very difficult problems to solve. If you know how to use a graphing calculator, you will find that both equations have no rational roots (numbers in decimal form that neither terminate or repeat, ie, √2, π), which means it is impossible to solve by regular algebriac methods, by what I know, anyway. As shown by my graphing calculator, the first equation has 3 real irrational roots. The second equation has two real irrational roots and two imaginary roots. Where did you get these equations from?
