We need to combine like terms. Like terms in this problem are the ones that have the same power and base.
(2s^4-3s^3+4s^2+14s-9)+(s^5+9s^3+5s^2-4s+5)+(-5a^4+s^2-6s-7)
Here's how it would look:
(s^5+2s^4+6s^3+10s^2+4s-11)-5a^4 (Note: check to make sure you copied the -5a^4 correctly. If it's supposed to be -5s^4 then it can be added to +2s^4 which would make it -3s^4)
