3x+2x=50
5x=50
x=10
2x=20 boys

x = # of girls, y = # of boys

x+y = 50

y = 50-x

-------------------------------------------------------

3/2 = x/y

3/2 = x/(50-x)

3(50-x) = 2x

150 - 3x = 2x

150 = 2x+3x

150 = 5x

5x = 150

x = 150/5

x = 30

-------------------------------------------------------

y = 50 - x

y = 50 - 30

y = 20

-------------------------------------------------------

There are 20 boys
