"The larger of 2 numbers is 6 more than 3 times the smaller" ___ L = 3s + 6

"When the larger is divided by the smaller the quotient is 4 and the remainder is 1" ___ L / s = 4 + (1/s)
___ multiplying by s ___ L = 4s + 1

substituting ___ 3s + 6 = 4s + 1

solve for s, then substitute back to find L
