ANSWER.     8  groups,  each containing  7  green and  6  red marbles.     (*)

            There are other possibilities :

4  groups  each containing  14  green and  12  red marbles.

2  groups  each containing  28  green and  24  red marbles.

1  group  containing  56  green and  48  red marbles.

But only very first case in the answer  section,  marked  (*),  provides the maximal number of groups.
