Question 108132: There are 220 barrels of cement in one shed and 510 barrels in another shed. How many barrels must be transferred from the second to the first shed so that the first shed willo contain two-thirds as much as the second shed? I was thinking that this equation fit: 220+x=2/3(510-x).

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
220+X=2/3(510-X)
220+X=(1020-2X)/3 NOW CROSS MULTIPLY.
660+3X=1020-2X
3X+2X=1020-660
5X=360
X=360/5
X=72 ANSWER FOR THE NUMBER OF BARRELS TO BE MOVED.
PROOF
220+72=2/3(510-72)
220+72=2/3*438
220+72=876/3
292=292
