You can put this solution on YOUR website!
b for boys
g for girls
p for pencils

p%2F%28b%2Bg%29=4, takes care of the first sentence.

b=g%2Bg%2F3, describes the second sentence.

Thirty-six pencils for the g number of girls:
Remember, 4 pencils to each student.
4%28pencils%2Fstudent%29;
36%2A%28pencils%29%281%2F4%29%28students%2Fpencils%29=9%2Astudents------and this again is a description given about the number of girls. This means, highlight%28g=9%29.

There are two found equations to use. You choose which to give a solution for number b of boys.

Your teacher gives out 4 pencils to each student. The class has one third more boys than girls. The total amount of pencils for the girls is 36. How many boys are in the class?
Since 36 pencils were distributed to girls, and 4 pencils were given to EACH student, it follows that the number of girls = matrix%281%2C3%2C+36%2F4%2C+or%2C+9%29
Number of boys:
It's that SIMPLE....nothing COMPLEX!!
