You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Army regulations require that their pickle relish use 10 pickles per pound of relish. In one bowl they have relish that only used 8 pickles per pound. In another bowl they have relish that used 16 pickles per pound. They need to make 200 pounds of relish. How many pounds of each bowl should they use?
--------------------
8 Pickel relish DATA:
Amt = x lbs ; pickle value = 8x
-----------------
16 pickel relish DATA:
Amt = 200-x lbs ; pickle value = 16(200-x)= 3200-16x
-------------------
10 pickel mix DATA:
Amt = 200 lbs ; pickle value = 10*200= 2000
---------------------
EQUATION:
pickle value + pickle value = pickle value
8x + 3200-16x = 2000
-8x = -1200
x = 150 (lbs of 8-pickle relish in the mix)
200-x = 50 (lbs of 16-pickle relish in the mix)
