Question 919133: How do you solve for the sides of a rhombus if a that are like a system of equations!!!!! Here's the question.
Solve for x (and y).
Rhombus WXYZ
WZ= 3x+5
WX= 5x-1
XY= 2y+4
I first tried combining the first and third equations together, then put the second equation in next, solved it but the answers weren't all congruent, making the quadrilateral not a rhombus.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Definition: Rhombus is a quadrilateral with all four sides equal in length.
given:
Rhombus WXYZ
sides:
WZ=+3x%2B5............1
WX=+5x-1.............2
XY=+2y%2B4 ............3

WZ=WX =>
3x%2B5=5x-1 solve for x
1%2B5=5x-3x
6=2x
6%2F2=x
x=3
WX=XY =>
5x-1=2y%2B4............plug x=3 in and solve for y
5%2A3-1=2y%2B4
15-1=2y%2B4
14=2y%2B4
14-4=2y
10=2y
10%2F2=y
y=5
now find sides:
WZ=+3x%2B5...........plug in x=3
WZ=+3%2A3%2B5
WZ=+14
WX=+5x-1...........plug in x=3
WX=+5%2A3-1
WX=+15-1
WX=+14
XY=+2y%2B4 .......plug in y=5
XY=+2%2A5%2B4
XY=+10%2B4
XY=+14
