You can put this solution on YOUR website! Social commentary, $6.95 per plate is not a lot of money for a charity fundraising dinner . But, the adult ticket price notwithstanding, the way to solve this problem is multiply the # of adult tickets sold * the price per adult ticket ($6.95).
...
We are given:
- total attendance: 250 people
- fraction of tickets sold to adults: 3/5 , which is the same as 60%
...
We need to multiply the 60% * 250 total tickets to figure # of adult tickets
- then we need to multiply that number * price per adult ticket.
...
.60 * 250 = 150 , the total # of adults
...
150 adults * $6.95 per adult ticket = total raised by adult tickets
...
(150) ($6.95) = $1,042.50 raised
...
cheers,
Lee
