There's several ways to work this problem but the way that I like best is to add the whole numbers first and then the fractions and then combine. So:
9+5+10+8=32
4/10 + 7/10 + 5/10 + 2/10=18/10
Now combine:
32 18/10 but we know that 18/10=10/10 which is 1 plus 8/10 (8/10=4/5) left over, so:
32 18/10=33 4/5
