a. 9/4*(2/3)=18/12 or 1.5 meters used leaving 0.75 meters.

b. of the 0.75 meters left, he uses 1/8 of it, so 7/8s is still left or 0.65625 m. The fraction is (7/8)*(3/4)=21/32
