once you have the equation of b^3 = 64, you can take the log of both sides to get log10(b^3) = log10(64) which then becomes 3*log10(b) = log10(64) which then becomes log10(b) = log10(64)/3.
you can then use the log function of your calculator to get log10(b) = .6020599913.
this can only be true if 10^.6020599913 = b.
use your calculator again to get b = 4
