Choose the largest two digits for the hundredths digits. So they are 6 and 5.
Choose the next largest two digits for the tens digits. So they are 4 and 3.
Choose the remaining two digits for the units digits. They are 2 and 1.
642 + 531 = 1173 is the highest possible sum
