You can put this solution on YOUR website!
In a two-digit number, the ten's digit is 3 more than the one's digit. If the digits are reversed, the difference between the two numbers is 27. Find the number.
--------------
Let the number be 10t + u where t is the tens digit and u is the units digit.
-------------------
EQUATIONS:
t = u+3
(10t+u)-(10u+t) = 27
----------------------
Rearrange:
t - u = 3
9t - 9u = 27
----------------
Simplify:
t - u = 3
t - u = 3
-----------------
solution: t = u+3
The number is 30 or 41, or 52, or 63, 74, 85, 96
---------
All these numbers are correct answers.
