You can put this solution on YOUR website! --
-1 > -100, so -1 "is larger."
--
-1 is the largest negative INTEGER.
I am careful not to use the word "number," as there are negative real numbers that are closer to zero than -1, and there is no "closest" negative real number to zero. For example, -0.0012 is greater than -1 and hence larger, but one can always find yet another larger negative real number closer to 0.

Below are some of the more important number classifications, you should get to know them. The set of numbers as you go down the list, each bulleted item includes the categories above it.
o Natural numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, … (also known as the "counting numbers")
o Integers: …, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, …
o Rationals: All numbers which can be expressed as p/q, where p and q are integers and q != 0. A number that can not be expressed as a ratio of two integers is said to be "irrational."
o Real numbers: Includes rational numbers and irrational (e.g. 7, 81, 9/1, , , , etc.)
[ Transcendental numbers are numbers like and which are part of the irrationals but have the property that they are never the roots of polynomial equations. ]

You can put this solution on YOUR website! if you are talking about the magnitude of the number, than -100 is definitely larger than -1.
if you are talking about whole numbers only, than -1 would be the smallest negative number in terms of magnitude.
but magnitude doesn't take into account direction.
to find the magnitude of a number, you take the absolute value of that number, which is always positve.
here's a definition from the web.
For numbers such as 1, 2, 3, and so on, the magnitude is simply the number itself. If the number is negative, the magnitude becomes the absolute value of the number. For example, the magnitude of 10 is 10. The magnitude of -10 becomes the absolute value of -10, which is 10.
when you take direction into account, -1 is more positive than -100 and is the most positive negative numker if you are dealing with whole numbers only.
magnitude doesn't care about direction.
greater usually does because it means more positive.
if a number is greater than another number, it's more positive.
