She bought seven boxes therefore boxes with her will be x plus 7
Half got destroyed in fire so x plus 7 /2 got destroyed
So balance will be x plus 7 minus x plus 7 divide by 2
Therefore 2x plus 14 minus x minus 7 equals 22 multiplied by 2
Therefore x equals 37
So Maria started with 37 boxes.
