You can put this solution on YOUR website!
If I give my sister 17 dollars, then we will have the same amount
of money.
f instead she gives me 23 dollars, then I'll have three times as
much money as she has.
How much money does she currently have (in dollars)?
:
Let a = amt you have
Let b = amt sister has
:
"If I give my sister 17 dollars, then we will have the same amount"
a - 17 = b + 17
a = b + 17 + 17
a = b + 34
:
"she gives me 23 dollars, then I'll have three times as much money"
3(b - 23) = a + 23
3b - 69 = a + 23
3b = a + 23 + 69
3b = a + 92
replace a with (b+34)
3b = b + 34 + 92
3b - b = 126
2b = 126
b = 126/2
b = $63 original amt of your sister
:
:
Check this; find your amt
a = 63 + 34
a = $97 your original amt
Your sister give you 23, you have 120
She has 63 - 23 = 40 which is 1/3 of 120
