Hi,
Let x represent Karen's study time. then Jills would be (x+3) and
Betsy's would be 2[x + (x+3)]
Question states
x + (x+3) + 2[x + (x+3)] = 93
solving for x
x + (x+3) + 2x + 2x +6 = 93
6x + 9 = 93
6x = 84
x = 14hrs, Karen's study time
Jill's 17 hrs (14 + 3)
Betsy's 62 hrs (2*31)
checking our answer
14hr + 17hr + 62hr = 93hr
