Hi
original Price= $450
... then marked down further to price 60% off the original selling price
.60($480) = $270off
  $480-$270 = $210

One way is to do it all by percentages and convert at the end.
Starts with price of x
loses 18%, so 0.82x
then loses 8% of that or 6.56%, so now 75.44%x left
Then loses 60% more or 75.44*0.60=45.264% lost or 30.176% left
multiply that by the original price and get $135.79.

A second way or a check is
$450*0.18=$81 discount, so now selling for $369
mark down 8% and that is $29.52 less, so selling price is now $339.48
Now mark that down 60% and discount is $203.688 or $203.69
Subtract that from $339.48 and get $135.79

I'm sorry that you as the student are subjected to so many incorrect responses to your post.

The problem says the jewelry set was reduced to "60% OFF THE ORIGINAL PRICE". Any previous price discounts are irrelevant.

One tutor approached the problem correctly but then used the wrong numbers.
Another tutor did a whole bunch of unnecessary calculations involving the earlier discounts.
A third tutor misread the problem as saying that the final price was 60% OF the original price. (And proclaimed that you should reject any answer other than her wrong answer....!)

-------------------------------------

60% OFF the original price means the final price was 40% OF the original price. The final price was

0.40($450) = $180
