Let x represent the number of adult tickets ⇒+highlight_green%2824-x%29 would be the number of child tickets

 $5.50x + $2.00(24-x) = $83

       $3.50x = $35

           x = 35/3.5 = 10 adult tickets and 14 child tickets    24-10+=+14
