Question 1029265: A concerts promoters profit P(s), in dollars, can be modelled by the function
P(s)=+8sē+950s-2250
Where s is the price of a ticket, in dollars.
a) if the promoter wants to earn a profit of $20 000, what should the ticket price be?
Answer by fractalier(6550) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Well, let's set P(s) equal to $20,000 and see what s equals...
P(s) = 20000 = 8sē + 950s - 2250
Subtract 20000 and get
8s^2 + 950s - 22250 = 0
Solving this, using the quadratic formula gives
s = $20.04 and s = -$139.79
So I am thinking $20 a ticket...let's see...
P(20) = 8*(20)^2 + 950(20) - 2250 = 19950
not quite $20,000...
Must be $20.04...
