Equation #1:
3x%2B5y=8
5y=-3x%2B8
y=-3x%2F5%2B8%2F5
Slope of Equation #1 = -3/5

5x-3y=5
-3y=-5x%2B5
y=5x%2F3-5%2F3
Slope of Equation #2 is 5/3

You can see the slopes are negative reciprocols of each other. Hence, the lines are perpendicular.
