Question 1086279: Which of the following equations describe the line shown below?
Check all that apply.
(-2,6) (4,3)
A. y - 6 = 1/2(x - 2)
B. y - 4 = 1/2(x - 3)
C. y - 3 = -2(x - 4)
D. y - 6 = -2(x + 2)
E. y - 6 = 1/2(x + 2)
F. y - 3 = 1/2(x - 4)

slope is change y/change in x=-3/6=-1/2
use point slope formula where y-y1=m(x-x1), m slope, and (x1,y1) point Either point can be used.
y-3=(-1/2)(x-4)
y=(-1/2)x+5
Now use the other point
y-6=(-1/2)(x+2), watch the sign -(-)
y=(-1/2)x+5
Note: if E and F had MINUS 1/2, they would be correct. You might check to see if the choices have a -1/2 value. OR, is there a minus omitted (or added) in the points? The slope is definitely negative 1/2 given these points.
