Question 1061108: Solve the following equation using the four steps.
−4(5t−1)=2(3−10t)−2
t=?
Find the slope of a line parallel to the line that crosses (3,−4) and the y-intercept is (0,2).
Please help me. Im so confused :(

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Solve the following equation using the four steps.
-4(5t - 1) = 2(3-10t) - 2
t=?
----
Step 1:
Multiply to get rid of the parentheses.
-20t + 4 = 6t - 20t - 2
any problem with that?
Collect terms.
-20t + 4 = -14t - 2
Add 20t to each side
4 = 6t - 2
Add 2 to each side
6 = 6t
----------------
t = 1
=========================================
Find the slope of a line parallel to the line that crosses (3,-4) and the y-intercept is (0,2).
------
You have 2 points, (3,-4) and (0,2)
Step 1, find the slope, m, of the line thru the 2 points.
---
m = diffy/diffx ie, (change in y) over (change in x) for the 2
points.
---
diffy = -4 - 2 = -6
diffx = 3 - 0 = 3
m = -6/3 = -2
-------
All parallel lines have the same slope.
--> the slope of a parallel line = -2
