Let b = number of child tickets sold
given:
(1) a+%2B+b+=+26
(2) 14a+%2B+3b+=+199

Multiply both sides of (1) by 3
and subtract (1) from (2)
(2) 14a+%2B+3b+=+199
(1) -3a+-+3b+=+-78
11a+=+121
a+=+11
and, since
(1) a+%2B+b+=+26
b+=+26+-+11
b+=+15
11 adults and 15 children attended
