A SQUARE PIECE OF LAND 50 FT. ON A SIDE IS:
50*50=2500 FT^2 IS THE TOTAL AREA.
SUBTRACTING THE WALKWAY OF 4 FT. WE HAVE LEFT
(50-2*4)(50-2*4)=(50-8)(50-8)=42*42=1764 FT^2 FOR THE GARDEN EXCLUDING THE WALK WAY. (THIS ASSUMES WHEN YOU SAY EACH SIDE YOU MEAN ALL 4 SIDES THEREFORE THE 50 FT. IS REDUCED BY A WALK WAY ON EACH SIDE THUS THE [2*4] SUBTRACTION).
