Question 120682: Graph Y=-4x
Answer by rapaljer(4671) About Me  (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=-4x+0

Notice that the slope of this equation is -4 (or %28-4%29%2F1), and the y-intercept is 0. So start with the y-intercept at 0 and put a point at (0,0). Then, with your pencil on this point, go DOWN 4 and RIGHT 1 unit, and put a second point. Connect the dots, and it should look like this:
graph%28300%2C300%2C+-10%2C10%2C-10%2C10%2C+-4x%29.
If you need extra help understanding this, please see my Lesson Plan in algebra.com called "Graphing by slope-intercept method" (or something like that!) I also have explanations on this topic on my own website by clicking on my tutor name "rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com. Look for the first link on my page, which is "Basic and Intermediate Algebra", and look in Basic Algebra, Chapter 4.
