Question 840894: Hi, I'm in Geometry and I need help with proofing. I have the basic idea of it, but it's hard for me to clump the proofs together.
1. 2(3x+1)=32
Here's what I've got so far.
1. 2(3x+1)=32 1. Given
2. 6x+2=36 2. Mult. Property of Equality
3. -2 -2 3. Sub. Property of Equality
4. 6x-30 4. Simplify
5. /6 /6 5. Div. Property of Equality
6. x=5 6. Simplify

Am I correct? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You've got most of it. Only #2 needed changing.
1. 2(3x+1)=32 1. Given
2. 6x+2=32 2. Distributive Property
3. 6x+2-2=32-2 3. Sub. Property of Equality
4. 6x=30 4. Simplify (Identity Property also 6x+0=6x)
5. (6x)/6=30/6 5. Div. Property of Equality
6. x=5 6. Simplify (Identity Propery also (6/6)x=x)
