multiply both sides by 2
2ad = ab
replace ad with (2x-1); replace ab with (6x-20)
2(2x-1) = 6x - 20
4x - 2 = 6x - 20
-2 + 20 = 6x - 4x
18 = 2x
x = 18/2
x = 9
Therefore
ad = 2(9) - 1
ad = 17
and
ab = 6(9) - 20
ab = 54 - 20
