You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the distance around a standard tennis court is 228 feet.
2L + 2w = 228
if the length of the court is 6 feet more than twice the width,
L = 2w + 6
find the dimensions of the tennis court.
Replace L with (2w+6) in the first equation
2(2w+6) + 2w = 228
4w + 12 + 2w = 228
4w + 2w = 228 - 12
6w = 216
w = 216/6
w = 36 ft is the width
:
Find L
L = 2(36) + 6
L = 72 + 6
L = 78 ft is the length
:
:
Check; find the perimeter
2(78) + 2(36) = 228
