domain of y = x + 2 is {x | -2 < x < 5}

Solve for x

    y = x + 2

y - 2 = x

Substitute y - 2 for x in

  -2 < x < 5

-2 < y - 2 < 5

Add 2 to all three sides:

   0 < y < 7

So the range is  {y | 0 < y < 7}
