To do this let's get the 5x on the right side of the equation by adding -5x to each side of the equation:
5x-5x -2y = -6 - 5x
Now, divide both sides by -2. There are two ways to write it, depending upon what form of the answer you want. I'll do it both ways. The first way is to divide the entire right side as a quantity by -2.
The answer looks better if you multiply numerator and denominator by -1:
Second method: Divide each term by -2. or
The second method might be the most useful, but the answers look so different, it is nice to be able to see both.
