Question 777195: Hi! I was wondering if I'm writing the right equation for this word problem. The problem is: A number added to the product of 6 and the reciprocal of the number equals -5. My goal is to find the number. So far i have n+6=-5 but then i looked up the definition of a reciprocal and I want to change my equation to n+6 1/-5 but then it wouldn't equal to anything. Are either of them right?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given: A number added to the product of 6 and the reciprocal of the number equals -5.

Use a variable for the number.
Let n = "a number".

"A number added to...", n+

"Reciprocal of the number", 1%2Fn

"equals...", you know what that means.
