5x + 6y = 48.......(1)
3x + 2y = 18.......(2)
Multiply Eq(2) by 3
5x + 6y = 48.......(1)
9x + 6y = 54.......(2)
Subtract Eq(1) from Eq(2)
4x = 6
x = 1.5
Substitute x = 1.5 into
Eq(2)
3x + 2y = 18
3(1.5) + 2y = 18
4.5 + 2y = 18
2y = 18 - 4.5
2y = 13.5
y = 6.75
Movies cost $1.60
Video games cost $6.75
