Question 875553: Please help me with this problem: x%5E3+%2B+3x%5E2+%2B+5x+%2B+75+%2F+%28x+%2B+5%29
I am unsure if you can or cannot add numbers with exponents. If you can would the answer be something along the lines of: 8x%5E6+%2B+75+%2F+%28x+%2B+5%29?
I added X%5E3+%2B+3x%5E2+%2B+5x+ and then i wasn't sure what to do about 75+%2F+%28x+%2B5%29 That doesn't seem right to me.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
No you cannot do that, then there would be no reason for exponents.
Add them like you would fractions, find a common denominator.
x%5E3=%28x%5E3%28x%2B5%29%29%2F%28x%2B5%29=%28x%5E4%2B5x%5E3%29%2F%28x%2B5%29
3x%5E2=3%28x%5E2%28x%2B5%29%29%2F%28x%2B5%29=%283x%5E3%2B15x%5E2%29%2F%28x%2B5%29
5x=5%28x%28x%2B5%29%29%2F%28x%2B5%29=%285x%5E2%2B25x%29%2F%28x%2B5%29
So then,
