You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x adult tickets were sold $4 each
y student tickets were sold at $2 each

so lets form 2 linear equations .
total earned money : 4x + 2y = 2446 --(1)
total tickets sold : x + y = 920 --(2)

from (2) , x=920-y
subst. (2) to (1)

4(920-y)+2y=2446
3680 -4y + 2y = 2446
3680-2446=2y
1234 = 2y
617 = y
( 617 student tickets were sold )
