Question 163484: You are buying flowers to hand out at a school dance. Roses cost $30 for a dozen but cost more if bought individually. With the money you have, you can buy 7 dozen and 4 singles roses, or 64 single roses. How much is one rose? How much money do you have?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=cost of a single rose
You bought 7 dozen so you already spent 7*30=210
The equation is
210+4x=64x
Subtract 4x from both sides
divide both sides by 64.
x=3.50
each rose costs 3.50
To check your answer
replace x with 3.5
Both sides have to equal the same value
210 +4(3.5)=64(3.5)
210+14=224
You have $224
