A basket with 12 apples has a mass of 3,105 grams. The same basket with 7 apples has a mass of 1,980 grams.
Each Apple has the same mass. What is the mass of the basket?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
B + 12A = 3105,   (1)
B +  7A = 1980.   (2)
Distract equation (2) from equation (1) (both sides). You will get
12A - 7A = 3105 - 1980,
5A = 1125   --->   A = 1125%2F5 = 225 gram is the mass of one apple.
Then from (2)  B = 1980 - 7*225 = 405 gram.
Answer.  405 gram.
