Found 3 solutions by hoatvu995, josgarithmetic, addingup: Answer by hoatvu995(7) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (-8, -19)
(2, 11)
First, find the slope
m = = = 3
Second, find the line
y-y1 = m(x-x1)
Choose either one of the point above. I chose (2, 11).
y - 11 = 3(x-2)
y = 3x - 6 + 11
y = 2x + 5.
Answer by josgarithmetic(39620) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You are looking for the slope-intercept equation for a line which passes through points (2,11) and (-8,-19).
You can use the point-slope form, and convert that into the slope intercept form.
Pick either point, arbitrarily choosing (2,11);
---------the point-slope form equation.
Now just simplify and put into general form......!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! m = (y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)
Find the equation of the line that passes through the points:
(2, 11) and (-8, -19)
First you need to find the slope:
m = (-19-11)/(-8-2) = 3 (positive, because -/- = +)
``````````````````````````````````````````````````
Now use the point-slope formula with one of the points. I'll use (2,11) because it doesn't have any negative numbers:
y-y_1 = m(x-x_1)
y-11 = 3(x-2)
y-11 = 3x-6
+ 11 and+11
------------
y = 3x+5
`````````````````````````````````````````
Let's see if I got it right. The above statement says that when y= a number, x equals 3 times that number plus 5.
The first two points in your equation are:
(2, 11) meaning that when y=2 x= 11. Using my answer:
y = 3x+5 Substitute with (2, 11)
2= 3(2)+5 = 6+5 = 11 correct, x=11
Now the other one
y = 3x+5 Substitute with (-8, -19)
-8 = 3(-8)+5
-8 = 3*-8 +5 = -24+5 = -19 Again correct. I gave you the correct answers.
