Since this is a linear equation(forms a straight line) you only need to plot two points.
The two easiest points to find are when x=0 and when y=0
so when x=0
we have 2y=10
y=5
so the point is (0,5)
when y=0 we have
-6x=10
x=-10/6=-5/3
so the point is (-5/3,0)

Equation -6+x+%2B+2+y+=+10 describes a sloping line. For any
equation ax+by+c = 0, slope is -a%2Fb+=+--6%2F2.
  • X intercept is found by setting y to 0: ax+by=c becomes ax=c. that means that x = c/a. 10/-6 = -1.66666666666667.
  • Y intercept is found by setting x to 0: the equation becomes by=c, and therefore y = c/b. Y intercept is 10/2 = 5.
  • Slope is --6/2 = 3.
  • Equation in slope-intercept form: y=3*x+5.
