I need to know how to help my son begin and solve these questions. Its been a very long time since I have seen these. Found 2 solutions by smallfry, elima:Answer by smallfry(7) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! this is how you start.............
y plus 3 =8
y+3=8, you want y or x whatever letter alone...so get rid of the 3
y+3=8
-3 -3
y=5, thats your answer.... make sure you plug in your answer to see if it works
if you need more help let me know.... applesauce_10@hotmail.com.....

I think the first 2 problems you wrote wrong. I hope I wasright in my assumption.
If so, here is how you solve them;
In each ofthe problems the object is to get the variable by itself "x,y, and a";
y+3=8
subtract 3 from both sides;
1)y+3-3=8-3
y=5
2)3=a+7
subtract 7 from both sides;
3-7=a+7-7
-4=a
3)6=x-4
add 4 to both sides;
6+4=x-4+4
10=x
4)7b=35
divide each side by 7; =
b=5
5)25=5y
divide each side by 5; =
5=y
6)10x=110
divide each side by 10; =
x=11
Hope you understand. If not let me know
