Question 96242: A farmer has chickens and rabbits on his farm - There are 22 heads and 72 feet - how many chickens and how many rabbits are there
Rabbits = X Chickens = Y
4 X + 2Y = 72
-2 (x) + -2 (Y) = 22
-2 =44
72-44= 28
2X = 28
x= 14
Y= 8

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A farmer has chickens and rabbits on his farm - There are 22 heads and 72 feet - how many chickens and how many rabbits are there
Rabbits = X Chickens = Y
Feet EQUATIOn: 4 X + 2Y = 72
Head EQUATIOn: x + y = 22
---------------------------------
Multiply thru Head equation to get:
-2 (x) + -2 (Y) = -44
Add to Feet equation to get:
2x = 28
x = 14 (# of rabbits)
y = 8 (# of chickens)
