Question 486797: My answer to the following doesn't make sense. Please help.
Fixed cost for making specialty coffee drinks is 250.00 plus 0.25 for each drink. I am trying to find the equation and answer for average cost per drink if 100 drinks are sold. Following is what I came up with:
c=250.00 + 0.25x (#drinks)
c=250 + (0.25 x 100) = 275.00
total cost = 275.00 x 100 drinks = 27,500.00
average cost is total cost divided by number of drinks sold
avg cost = 27500.00 divided by 100 = 275.00
This doesn't make sense. Please tell me where I'm erroring. Thank you. Answer by chessace(471) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The first thing you need to do is define your variables.
Your "c" is the total cost of 100 drinks.
Had you written this down, you would not have multiplied by 100 again.
So you are off by a factor of 100.
Ave Cost = 275.00 / 100 = $2.75.
